Reflexology
Also known as: foot massage, foot reflexology
Reflexology is a treatment where pressure is applied to the feet, hands or ears, based on the idea that these areas relate to other parts of the body.
What it is
The therapist presses specific points on the feet, sometimes the hands or ears, following a chart of reflex areas. It is often chosen as a relaxing treatment, and scientific evidence for specific health effects is limited.
What to expect
Sessions are usually 30 to 60 minutes and you can stay clothed apart from shoes and socks. Pressure ranges from light to firm.
What to ask before booking
Ask about the session length and the pressure used. Reflexology is a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care.
